The ecclesiastical district of High Cross was formed in 1845. It includes the hamlet of Colliers End and part of Wadesmill. The church of St John the Evangelist, High Cross, was commisioned in 1847 by Lady Giles-Puller and her son Mr Christopher William Puller.
